Trip to the Frank Kanton by Alexander Spack in May 2009

168. Frank

The church building at the Central Square downtown Frank.

This old German brick building is said to have been the local Pastorat, or the Lutheran pastor's house, in the old days and is situated right at the former church square downtown Frank. After having served as a tailor's and a hairdresser's shop for a while after the WWII, it was turned over to the German residents of Frank in the early 1990s for the local Lutheran and Catholic communities to have their respective religious gatherings there. That is when the iron cross was set atop of the building and the church bell tower built in front of it. Today 2 of the 3 rooms inside the building are occupied by the local Russian Orthodox community, and the last room (the window on the far left) is used by the few German Lutheran ladies who come together every Sunday for worship.
